What documents are required for road legal replacement number plates?
To supply road legal number plates, UK law requires us to verify both proof of identity and proof of entitlement.
As a DVLA-registered number plate supplier, we are legally required to complete document verification before any number plates can be produced.
If you place your order online, please email clear images of your documents. Plates cannot be manufactured until verification has been successfully completed.
Our registration can be confirmed via the GOV.UK website.
Documents Required
You must provide one document from each list below. Together, your documents must allow us to confirm:
- ✓ Your full name
- ✓ Your current address
- ✓ Your entitlement to display the registration number
We cannot manufacture road legal plates without both required documents.
1. Proof of Identity
Your proof of identity must clearly show your name and address.
- • Driving licence
- • Bank or building society statement (issued within the last 6 months)
- • Utility, telephone, or Council Tax bill (issued within the last 6 months)
- • Passport
- • National identity card (issued by a non-UK government)
- • Debit or credit card (issued by a bank or building society)
- • Police warrant card
- • Armed forces identity card
2. Proof of Entitlement
This confirms your legal right to display the registration number.
- • Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C)
- • New keeper supplement (V5C/2)
- • Certificate of Entitlement (V750)
- • Retention Document (V778)
- • Vehicle Licence Renewal (V11)
- • Temporary Registration Certificate (V379)
- • Authorisation Certificate (V948) or printed eV948 (digital copies shown on phones cannot be accepted)
- • Letter of authorisation from a fleet operator or leasing company (must reference the V5C document reference number)
Submitting Your Documents
Please email clear images or photographs of your original documents. Images must be clear, well-lit, and fully legible.
For your security, we recommend masking or obscuring sensitive information that is not required for verification.

Your Images Must Clearly Show

- ✓ Your address (on identity documents)

If your documents do not clearly display the required information, we may request additional documentation.
